The Black Dahlia Murder is a melodic death metal band from Detroit, Michigan, signed to Metal Blade Records. Their music is heavily influenced by death and metalcore. The band is named after the murder of Elizabeth Short, a crime that took place in Los Angeles in 1947 and remained a topic of conversation there for decades.

The Black Dahlia Murder is a melodic death metal band. They are mainly influenced by Swedish bands and Carcass. The heavy end of their sound is the American style creeping in, with some Florida influences like Morbid Angel, Malevolent Creation and stuff like that.
